Prof. Asaad Khalid is an active researcher; he has supervised 16 Ph.D. and 9 M.Sc. graduates. Currently, he is leading a research group working mainly on drug discovery and toxicology research. In 2009, the WHO has regarded his research on anti-malarial drug discovery as one of the bright ideas in Africa. Prof. Asaad is the winner of the AU-TWAS Young Scientists National Award 2011 (awarded by The African Union and The Academy of Science for the Developing World, TWAS) and the Pakistan Academy of Medical Sciences (PAMS) Junior Gold Medal Award-2005 for the best biomedical research conducted in Pakistan during 2004 and 2005 and the Distinguished Achievement Award 2005-2006. Prof. Asaad has published more than 70 research publications in leading international journals (Total citations = 1700, h-index = 25). He has delivered more than 60 invited lectures in scientific meetings. His research projects has been funded by many national and international agencies including the European Union.
